Canada is modernizing its enterprise architecture capabilities to support a secure, scalable, and business‑aligned technology environment. We are seeking experienced Enterprise Architecture Specialists who bring a blend of enterprise, business, and security architecture expertise to help shape the future of government digital services.
This role is ideal for candidates who thrive at the intersection of strategy, architecture, governance, and transformation — and who can operate across multiple architectural domains with confidence.
Location: Ottawa, ON (On-site)
Contract Duration: Multi year (up to 5 years)
Clearance: Eligibility to obtain Canadian Security Clearance
Experience Level: Senior or Intermediate
Key Responsibilities
Enterprise Architecture
- Lead the development and evolution of enterprise‑wide architecture frameworks, principles, and standards.
- Define target‑state architectures that support scalability, agility, innovation, and business capability alignment.
- Develop strategic roadmaps in collaboration with senior business and technology leaders.
- Promote reuse of common platforms, services, and architectural patterns.
- Participate in architecture review boards and ensure adherence to enterprise standards.
Business Architecture
- Develop business capability models, value streams, and process architectures aligned with enterprise strategy.
- Conduct assessments of current‑state business architecture and identify gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities.
- Support the maturation of EA governance, including policies, processes, and organizational structures.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to capture business needs and translate them into architectural requirements.
- Provide guidance on operating model design, transformation initiatives, and strategic alignment.
Security Architecture
- Assess current‑state security architecture across systems, networks, and applications.
- Develop future‑state security architectures aligned with enterprise goals and regulatory requirements.
- Establish and maintain security principles, patterns, and reference models.
- Provide secure‑by‑design guidance for solution architectures and project teams.
- Contribute to Zero Trust strategy development and security governance processes.
Deliverables
- Enterprise architecture strategy documents, roadmaps, and target‑state models.
- Business capability models, value streams, and process documentation.
- Security architecture assessments, patterns, and future‑state designs.
- Architecture decision records, governance artifacts, and senior‑level presentations.
- Evaluations of proposed projects against enterprise and security architecture standards.
Required Qualifications
Education
- University degree or diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field OR
- Equivalent progressive experience in IT architecture.
Experience
Candidates should demonstrate experience in two or more of the following domains:
Enterprise Architecture
- Leading enterprise‑wide architecture strategy, governance, and roadmap development.
- Designing integrated solutions aligned with enterprise standards and business needs.
- Developing enterprise data models, cloud architectures, integration strategies, or API/microservice architectures.
Business Architecture
- Mapping business capabilities and processes to strategic objectives and IT investments.
- Conducting business architecture assessments and developing future‑state models.
- Supporting enterprise transformation initiatives (digital transformation, operating model redesign, etc.).
Security Architecture
- Applying security frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001, Zero Trust Architecture).
- Designing secure enterprise architectures across hybrid and cloud environments.
- Developing security principles, patterns, and reusable components.
Certifications (Assets)
- TOGAF, BIZBOK
- CISSP, CISM, SABSA
- Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- ITIL, Lean, or Agile certifications
